THE USE OF ESSENTIALS OILS FOR THE TREATMENT OF HAIR-LOSS WITH NATIVE ARGENTINEAN PLANT SPECIES AND ITS THERAPEUTIC EFFICIENCY
Patients with all kinds of different hair-loss pathologies have been observed. they have been treated with a lotion applied in form of massage additionally to the shampoos and hair conditioners used daily (its formula containing essentials oils obtained through steam distillation from native Argentinean plant species).
The botanical used species in the formula are: Acantholippia seriphioides “ tomillo del campo” the family of Verbenaceae native from the Argentinean states San Juan, San Luis. Buenos Aires, Neuquen and Rio Negro. The active ingredients of that plant are carvacrol, timol, 1-8 cineol, carvone, citral, and phenol. Minthostachys verticillata “ peperina” the family of Lamiaceae, native from Argentinean states Cordoba, San Juan, San Luis and Catamarca. It’s actives ingredients β pinene, llimonene, pulegone, l-Mentone, δ-isomentone and hidroxilactone. Satureja odora “ muña muña”, “salvia Lora” from the family Lamiaceae, native from the Argentinean states: Tucuman, San Luis, Mendoza, and San Juan. It’s actives ingredients are: pulegona, δ-isomentona, lippiona, epoxipiperitona, cedrol? and cetona. The essential oils of these three species were used mixed with Rosmarinus officinalis CT:1.8 cineol, Mentha piperita and tincture of Urtica dioica.
We observed that after 6 - 12 months of treatment, the patients treated with that formula responded faster and more efficiently than those treated only with Mediterranean species. Since all the patients treated improved (diminishing hair-loss and increasing hair-growth), we decided to continue the investigation in order to create stadistic validation.
It’s important to underline that all the plants used in our investigation contained similar active ingredients.
We can thus confirm that these ingredients or their synergy act favorably in the detention of hair-loss.
